Parrish was impressed by the gardens he had designed and planted at his summer season home in New Hampshire, and wished a “fantastical” mural, filled with beauty and solitude. “The Dream Garden” employs greater than 260 colours, and combines basic foliage and floral components with architectural details corresponding to urns and fountains. Production took over a 12 months, and set up took an additional six months. At its unveiling, the finished mural was proclaimed a “veritable surprise-piece,” a shocking mélange of opaque and translucent glass, lit from behind.
